Strengthening Churches · Reaching the Balkans

Healthy churches, led by Balkan pastors, reproducing across the region.

Balkan Gospel Partnership supports the strengthening and planting of local churches in one of the least reached regions of Europe — by equipping the national pastors and elders who will lead them.

Why the Balkans

One of the least reached regions in Europe.

Centuries of religious division and political conflict have left deep barriers to the spread of the gospel. Evangelical churches remain extremely small, and many cities still have little or no healthy Protestant witness.

Local believers carry that weight daily — social suspicion toward evangelical Christianity, economic hardship that limits church sustainability, and a shortage of trained pastors and elders to shepherd the churches that do exist.

Understand the barriers

What we do

We walk alongside Balkan churches to help discern, equip, strengthen and send.

BGP supports pastoral internships and church-planting initiatives in every phase — not as a distant funder, but as a partner that stays.

Pastoral Development

The future growth of Christ's church in the Balkans runs through qualified men trained in healthy ecclesiology, teaching and church polity. BGP supports Balkan brothers who aspire to pastor and plant.

Church Planting

The Great Commission is best accomplished through the strengthening and planting of healthy local churches. BGP partners with Balkan churches that share this vision and desire to reproduce.

Missionary Support

Unreached places depend on qualified gospel laborers who will enter, make disciples, train leaders and encourage self-sustainability in new Balkan churches. BGP supports missionaries who share this vision.

Our distinctives

Four convictions that shape every partnership.

Local Church Focus

The Great Commission is best fulfilled through healthy local churches — not around them.

Leadership Development

We prioritize equipping national pastors and elders for long-term impact in their own cities.

Responsible Funding

Strategic support designed to lead toward locally sustained churches.

Hands-On Partnership

Ongoing mentoring and relationship with the ministry leaders we serve.

Phase one

Small numbers. Long horizons.

Pastoral internships are being implemented across three partnering churches — two in Montenegro and one in Bosnia & Herzegovina.

15 Pastors, interns and lay leaders receiving translated 9Marks titles in their own language
6 Active involvement opportunities across Montenegro and Bosnia

Where we work

Montenegro, Bosnia & Herzegovina, and Serbia.

Cities where evangelical witness is thin, and where a handful of faithful brothers are being prepared to change that.

Montenegro

Pastoral development in Podgorica and Kotor, alongside goals for an international church plant in the capital. The pathway here could produce the country's first locally supported national pastor.

Bosnia & Herzegovina

Pastoral development in Zenica and church planting in Kakanj, plus missionary support for a family preparing to serve the church in Zenica.

Partnership profiles

The men this work exists for.

Faithful brothers being equipped to shepherd Christ's church in their own countries.

Luka

Luka

Montenegro · Podgorica

A brilliant mind whose curiosity and love for theology grew into a shepherd-hearted burden for his Montenegrin people. From doubtful intern to faithful pastoral assistant, he now serves as a deacon on the path to eldership — and is on a trajectory to become the first locally supported national pastor in Montenegro.

Ismir

Ismir

Bosnia · Zenica

A first-generation Bosnian believer who met Christ as a child in the only evangelical Protestant church in his city of 125,000 people. His growth in the Lord led him to seminary in Croatia with a desire to pastor the church in Bosnia. He graduates soon and begins his shepherding journey with BGP's support.

Samir

Samir

Bosnia · Kakanj

A faithful Bosnian brother of Roma background who serves with Child Evangelism Fellowship and has begun a work in Kakanj — a town with no local church present. Already devoted to sharing the gospel, he is being given vision for pastoring and training for planting.

Where your giving goes

Support that is designed to end well.

External support is needed to begin gospel-centered work in unreached places — but caution must be exercised to avoid foreign financial dependence. Every BGP giving plan includes a path toward self-supported local ministry.

Books and translated resources

Translated 9Marks titles placed in the hands of pastors, interns and lay leaders, with written reflection and discussion built in.

Internship stipends

Monthly support so Balkan brothers can invest in their local church, serve, and stay accountable to their training.

Training and intensives

Expositional preaching cohorts, seminars, and airfare for international pastoral intensives with 9Marks and TGC Europe.

Field visits and orientation

Travel to Serbia, Montenegro and Bosnia to deliver resources, orient new internships, and stay present in the work.
